Saturday, July 11: a unique sensory experience in Gancia’s historic underground cellars, featuring a masterclass led by AIS Asti sommeliers exploring the region’s iconic aromatic sparkling wines, a true expression of local excellence.
Canelli Città del Vino returns on July 10–11, 2026 for its 27th edition, celebrating the authentic soul of Piedmont’s sparkling wine heritage. Over two days, the heart of Canelli will become an open-air food and wine destination, where UNESCO wine landscapes, historic streets and the renowned Underground Cathedrals come together to showcase the terroir’s rich history and winemaking excellence.
Among the event’s highlights are Gancia’s historic Underground Cathedrals, a symbol of Italy’s sparkling wine tradition. On Saturday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m., these remarkable cellars welcome guests to “Aroma Before Taste“, a masterclass organised by the Asti DOCG Consortium and the Brachetto d’Acqui Consortium, in collaboration with AIS Asti.
This immersive experience takes participants on a journey through aromas, flavours and emotions, exploring some of the region’s finest expressions: Moscato d’Asti, Asti Spumante and Brachetto d’Acqui, together with a special tasting surprise, Asti Rosé.
The masterclass culminates in a tasting of seven outstanding sparkling wines, hosted in Gancia’s historic cellars, where the story of Italy’s Metodo Classico began and evolved through some of its defining moments.
